"What kind of sunscreen do you recommend?"
Protecting your child's safety is our number one mission at camp and a significant part of our overall risk management plan. Sunburn is something that can be prevented so we take this very seriously.
People ask me all time what kind of sunscreen I recommend. I don't endorse or recommend one over another, but I can tell you this: I used Coppertone's Water Babies for many years which worked pretty well until last year when I switched to Neutrogena's Ultrasheer Dry-Touch Sunblock
My uncle (my mom's brother), who's a dermatologist in Tarzana, told me about it. He gave me a little sample and said "Neutrogena's new sunscreen is supposed to be the best thing out right now." So I gave it a try...and the results were AMAZING!!!
With the Coppertone, sometimes I got a little pink under the eyes and tip of the nose (just like everyone does
after spending time in the sun).
But this Neutrogena stuff... it fights off the sun incredibly well. I never got pink even once after I started using it, so you might want to give it a try.
You can get it at Target, in any mall, or probably from the Neutrogena website. Just Google "Neutrogena with Helioplex" and the info you need will come up. (Apparently Helioplex is the ingredient that's so effective against the sun.)
By the way, I think everyone should use sunscreen with a minimum 30 SPF, but Neutrogena also sells 50 and 70 SPF, too, just in case you want the added protection.
Let me know how it works!
