Surfing activity information and video
Just wanted to discuss our surfing activity a bit. Like all activities at Aloha, the surfing component to our program
is purely instruction and optional. We understand kids are sometimes hesitant to try new things, so we NEVER force anyone to do anything they don't want to do, but we will always encourage campers to participate as much as possible, hoping that they join the activity whenever they feel ready.
Your child's surfing lesson will start on the dry sand with Cory (pictured right), John, Reesa, Erin, or another of our surfing instructors BEFORE moving into the ocean water. Our surfing staff is comprised of certified lifeguards who each have at least 5 years experience teaching kids to surf. It's entirely possible (if not likely!) your child will be standing up on his or her surfboard the very first day they surf!
It's important to note that Zuma Beach -- with its soft sandy bottom, clean water, gentle surf and consistent wave activity -- has been identified by local lifeguards as one of L.A.'s best places to learn to surf.
In the video below, 9-year-old camper Oren G. shows off his stuff. Can you believe this is only his second day surfing?!? And we taught him how, just like we'll teach your child, too!
(Oren takes a little "header" at the end, but hey, you've gotta get off the board somehow, LOL!)
